Election signs are one of the highest-volume, fastest-turnaround jobs in the print calendar, and almost all of them are plastic election signs printed on Corflute® or corrugated plastic. Sizes
Common election sign sizes are 600 x 900mm and 900 x 1200mm for stake and fence signs, with smaller formats for polling day. Any size up to 2400 x 1200mm can be ordered online. In South Australia, Corflute® signs on vehicles, buildings, hoardings or structures are limited to 1 square metre, so check the size before ordering an SA campaign. Single vs double-sided
Most election signs are printed single-sided to keep the cost per sign down across large volumes, and our Corflute® is printed single-sided. Where a sign needs to read from both directions, such as a median strip or a busy two-way approach, order Corrugated Plastic, which prints on one or both sides.
Volume & turnaround
Campaign print is last-minute by nature. Corflute® Print Only jobs up to $1,000 + GST placed before the 1pm Melbourne cut-off are produced the next business day, and signs with eyelets up to $500 + GST. Bigger runs show their dispatch date in the Job Summary before you order, so you can quote a real delivery date, and 99% of orders dispatch on time. One job can carry many artworks in uneven quantities, which suits multi-candidate and multi-electorate campaigns.
Mounting
Election signs are typically staked into nature strips or cable-tied to fences. For fences, order Corflute® with Eyelets, with clear eyelets fitted in one of 12 preset layouts. For staking, order Corflute® Print Only, supplied flat.
A note on election signage rules
Election signage is regulated, and the rules vary by state and local council. Federal election signs must carry an authorisation statement under section 321D of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918, so make sure it's in the artwork before you order. South Australia limits Corflute® signs on vehicles, buildings, hoardings or structures to 1 square metre. Placement and timing rules also differ by state and council, so advise clients to check with their electoral commission and council before display.
