Backlit Posters

Backlit Posters are made for display inside lightboxes, helping your artwork come to life with rich colour and even illumination. Printed on 285gsm Studiojet translucent polyester film using UVgel technology, these posters deliver sharp detail and smooth tones when lit from behind.

The material has a matte finish that diffuses light evenly, reducing glare while keeping your image bright and clear. It’s ideal for retail environments, cinema displays, and any illuminated advertising frame. Because we print digitally, you’re not limited to standard sheet sizes — we can produce posters up to 1200 millimetres wide and 2400 millimetres long, giving you flexibility for any display.

Backlit Posters combine durability, detail, and trade efficiency all printed locally for consistent colour and fast turnaround.

Optimised for Lightbox Displays

Printed on a 285gsm translucent polyester film designed specifically for backlit use, these posters diffuse light evenly for stunning illuminated visuals. Colours appear rich and balanced, with strong detail that looks great both lit and unlit.

High Definition UVgel Print

Our Canon UVgel technology delivers crisp, consistent colour up to 1800dpi. The UVgel inks are instantly cured for a smooth, matte finish that resists scuffing and fingerprints while maintaining bright, even colour when backlit.

Custom Size Flexibility

You’re not restricted to traditional sheetfed poster sizes. We can print up to 1200 millimetres wide and 2400 millimetres long, so you can design to fit your exact lightbox dimensions. That means no wasted edges or trimming needed.

Sustainability

Low-VOC UVgel Printing

Printed with Greenguard-certified, low-VOC UV inks that are cured under LED lamps. This eco-conscious process reduces emissions while maintaining exceptional colour accuracy and consistency.

Solar-Powered Production

Our Derrimut facility is powered by a 99 kW solar system that supplies most of our daytime energy use. Every order supports cleaner energy and lower carbon output.

Locally Printed in Australia

All Backlit Posters are printed locally in Melbourne. By keeping production onshore, we reduce transport emissions and support local jobs and Australian manufacturing.

Durable Material for Longer Use

The tough polyester film is designed for extended display life, helping reduce waste by lasting longer than paper or lower-grade backlit materials. Fewer reprints mean less energy, transport, and material consumption over time.

FAQ

We print on a 285gsm Studiojet translucent polyester film that is 205 microns thick. It’s designed to let light pass through evenly, creating bright and vivid backlit displays. The stock has a matte finish which helps reduce glare while keeping colours rich and even.
Yes, you can display them without a lightbox, but they look their best when lit from behind. When unlit, the colours will appear slightly softer because the material is translucent. When backlit, the images appear vibrant and full of depth.
Your posters are printed on our Canon Oce Colorado using UVgel technology. This process produces consistent, high-resolution results at up to 1800dpi. The inks are outdoor-durable and instantly cured, creating a smooth matte finish perfect for lightbox illumination.
Our backlit prints are advertising grade, meaning they are excellent for retail and commercial use where quality and brightness matter. While the output is not photographic grade, it offers sharp detail and even colour for high-impact illuminated displays.
The UVgel ink is rated for up to two years in direct sunlight before noticeable fading, and the polyester film itself is tough and tear-resistant. Please note that continuous direct sunlight may cause the film to yellow slightly over time, which is typical of all backlit materials.
No, we don’t offer double-sided printing on this product. Our Backlit Posters are designed for single-sided printing to ensure consistent colour strength and even illumination through the front surface.
No, Backlit Posters are produced as square or rectangular prints. They’re cut on our Fotoba XLD machine, which is designed for straight XY cuts. This allows us to maintain accuracy, speed, and quality for large backlit runs.
We can print any custom size up to 1200 millimetres wide and 2400 millimetres long. This flexibility lets you match your lightbox perfectly, avoiding awkward cropping or gaps. All posters are printed to the size you enter in the order system.
If your artwork is approved before our daily cut-off, jobs up to $1,000 + GST are usually printed and dispatched within two business days. For every additional $1,000 + GST in order value, add one extra business day to production. For example, a $2,000 + GST job would take three business days. Your exact dispatch date will always appear in your account before you confirm the order so you know exactly when your posters will be leaving our factory.
Yes, you can order as few as one poster. Whether you need a single sample or a full rollout, we handle all quantities efficiently through our automated trade system.
Once your order is placed, it moves into production almost immediately. Because of this, we can’t make changes or cancellations. Please double-check your artwork, sizes, and quantities before submitting your order.
No, we send each job to one delivery address only. This helps us keep production and dispatch fast. If you need multi-location deliveries, we can connect you with one of our 3PL logistics partners.
We don’t offer design or setup help because we print exclusively for trade resellers. However, our automated system checks for common file errors such as missing bleed or incorrect trim boxes to ensure smooth production.
All jobs are prepaid unless you have an approved trade account. Trade accounts are available for resellers who meet our minimum spend and maintain consistent payment history.
We always work to meet or beat the dispatch dates shown in your account. More than ninety-nine percent of our jobs leave our factory on time. While courier delays are out of our control, we partner with reliable carriers to keep delivery consistent.
Yes, you can order one poster to test the print quality and light diffusion before placing a larger run. It’s a great way to make sure the result meets your expectations and those of your client.

Backlit Poster pricing is based on a true cost, linear metre driven production model rather than square metre estimates. Backlit media is printed in continuous runs using controlled ink densities and colour profiles, and multiple posters can often fit across the width of the stock before additional linear metres are required. As quantities increase, pricing may remain unchanged until the next full row or length of material is needed, at which point it steps up. This approach reflects the actual cost of specialty media, print setup, quality control, and waste, ensuring transparent pricing and predictable outcomes for trade customers.

No. Backlit poster orders must be placed using the materials, print settings, and turnaround times available in our system at the time of ordering, and we’re unable to accommodate one-off variations outside of those parameters. Backlit printing requires controlled ink density, colour balance, and media handling to ensure even light diffusion and consistent illumination, and our production workflows are structured around those requirements. We do not offer manual overrides for individual backlit jobs, as this introduces quality risk and inconsistency. If you have feedback driven by repeat usage, regular volume, or a broader market need, we welcome that input for consideration as a long-term system enhancement.
