Customers are often confused about the different kinds of label printing out in the market. When choosing a label printer you must take note of 3 factors which are:

What quantity of labels are you after?

What is your price range?

How many colours and what process do you need?

Digital Label Printing

Digital Label Printing

A spot colour process such as offset and screen-print are viable if you need a really large run with solid spot colours. The setup fees are higher but the cost per unit is a lot lower on larger runs. There are many print processes using spot colours for larger volumes. You also may be limited to size and shape in this process and for anything custom you may need a custom die made up.

Digital on the other hand offers greater flexibility for small to medium runs. The setup costs are lower. However because this is process printing using CMYK inks, colours can appear grainy and not as solid as spot colours. In digital there are different kinds of label printers. Some label printers use something similar to an inkjet printer, the problem with this is that these inks are not waterproof.

At Mediapoint, we print digitally and offer waterproof and other options for your label printing. We print onto waterproof vinyl with a durable ink. We supply labels on sheets but in a few months will have roll to roll printing capabilities. At the moment we do not print onto paper but will be able to do so in the near future.

We are also able to turn around label orders extremely fast in a few business days. This is due to the lower setup time associated with digital. Also with our digital cutting capabilities we are able to custom cut labels to any shape and size. For pricing and information on label printing check out our labels page.
