Decals is a popular printing product. However it is heavily misunderstood because decals are used for cars, products, signage and so on. What even makes this a more confusing product is that different suppliers have different ways of making decals.

Unique Digitally Printed Decals

Decals started out being made by cutting plotters on cut vinyl. This way you could have letters or shapes cut out with no background. If there were different colours this had to be layers up on the stickers. Decals initially became popular on for sale stickers on the back of car windows. Decals are still done like this today by some companies who have not moved with the times with their equipment.

Today a lot of companies including Mediapoint make decals via digital printing process. What this means is that we print decals onto a white stock and then we can digitally cut around a shape. The benefit of this is colours do not need to be layered like with cut vinyl.

But because of this decals are now similar and exactly a like to other products such as stickers and durable labels. All these products can be as durable as each other in the same elements.
